For over 20 years Matt Smith, "The Fish Guy", has been building and maintaining custom fresh and salt water aquariums in the West Michigan area. Beginning as a hobbyist and evolving his passion into a unique career, The Fish Guy specializes in building aquatic aquariums that provide a calming aesthetic to any office, commercial, or residential environment. Working with building contractors, The Fish Guy designs and determines specifications for creating custom and unique aquariums that organically integrate into an available space. Ranging in sizes from small 30 gallon aquariums to 1000 gallon show pieces, The Fish Guy has the experience to build and maintain a beautiful exhibit with minimal maintenance.

The Fish Guy can also supply you with all of your aquatic fish and animal needs. The Fish Guy believes in responsible pet ownership and will work with the client to determine which species will thrive in the space available. Additionally, The Fish Guy specializes in growing, breeding and cultivating rare and unique animal species. Two of these areas of expertise are exotic freshwater stingray species and rare coral species. The Fish Guy currently has a breeding colony of spotted stingrays and through this process of captive breeding, pressure on wild caught animals captured for the pet trade is reduced. Similarly, with much of the worlds coral species in severe decline, The Fish Guy strives to lessen the impact on wild species by responsibly growing and propagating some of these rare species.
